Sabrina, Asia’s Acoustic Sweetheart

Last January 30, I was able to meet Asia’s Acoustic Sweetheart Sabrina thru the Bloggers Evening launching her  follow-up single from her highly successful “I Love Acoustic 4″ album, her version of the hit”Moves Like Jagger”  held at Redbox Eastwood City Libis.

Sabrina and Me.. ^_^

So who is Sabrina? She comes from a musically inclined family. Her father was a singer but never got professional, her mother sings as well, her brother composes songs, plays the guitar, a singer also but like their father, he never got professional and finally her sister who is the one that wants to be a popular singer, the biretera of the family as she described her. As for Sabrina, she is the one that is the so so type, she also loves singing because her sister loves it too. She never planned to be a professional singer but since she has the voice, she undergone vocal coaches consistently since she was seven (7) years old and also done Ryan Cayabyab vocal coaches for three (3) years.

She was a resident singer in her catholic private school. She is religious in a sense that she believes that she is a daughter of God and everything happens because of him. She did join a singing contest in her school when she was in Grade Three (3) because she is the school representative  and the song she sang was “The Greatest Love of All” popularized by Whitney Houston. She won the contest and that was her first and last contest she joined. She did not join any singing contest because she is not a belter, she just loves singing.

She was discovered when she was 14 years old when she sang at a family reunion, she was told that after two years they shall meet again. That was when she sang with Eric Santos Birthday concert, right there and there Vicor met with her and suggested that she do Bossa Songs, because her voice has that Bossa feel. Since Bossa was too old for her, MCA made a big switch and turned her into a Acoustic Singer and the rest was history.

Currently, Sabrina is most popular in Indonesia thanks to MCA who released her four (4) acoustic albums in the said country. All four albums turned Platinum. Sabrina said that in Indonesia what matters is your voice and how you sing and because of that she certainly believe that Talent is still being recognize, there is still justice and still fair of the talent you have.

Her new album “I Love Acoustic Four was also released in Thailand and soon in Singapore and Malaysia. The album also includes the tracks “Price Tag,”, “Who Says”, “Edge of Glory”, “On The Floor”‘ “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F)”, “California King Bed”, “Hold It Against Me”, “Rolling In the Deep”, “The Lazy Song”, “Back to December”, “That Should Be Me”, “Marry Me”, “Rocketeer”, “Saranghe” from the soundtrack of Koreanovela Perfect Match “Just the Way You Are” feautring Indonesian singer Calvin Jeremy and “Lucky” featuring multi-platinum crooner Richard Poon.
