We all love to eat right? And when we travel, we are not just excited to see the place itself but of course we cannot wait to indulge on the sumptuous food a certain place can offer. We come to know their specialties either by travelling or through our family and friends. What if our people around is not into local food?
I’m glad to know that Pilmico, the food subsidiary of Aboitiz started this advocacy “Mahalin Pagkaing Atin” that raises awareness about embracing our local food through Livelihood and Food expos. I think that this advocacy will be able to help us by refreshing our memories of what different kinds of food our beloved country can offer.
During its quick stop at Mercato Centrale, Pilmico’s Ambassador Chef Boy Logro cooked different northern dishes that patrons of the Mercato Centrale were able to indulge.

Mahalin Pagkaing Atin has been to places like Tagum City, Davao, Bohol, North Cebu, Iloilo, Ormoc, Palo, Carigara, Baybay, Tacloban, Roxas City, Samar, Butuan, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija and Isabela. It focuses on helping, teaching and encouraging farmers to embrace backyard farming as a sustainable form of livelihood for locals as Pilmico distributes piglets and egg machines to selected beneficiaries with full cycle feed consumption. This does not only promote sustainable entrepreneurship and homegrown produce, but also instills a “pride of product, pride of place” mindset for both farmers and consumers. ” This is “embrace local” and “love local” in action. Pilmico already donated a total of 191 egg machines, 646 piglets and 14 agriposts to 304 families nationwide! This only shows how Pilmico’s dedication to this advocacy.
